The New Nursery

No, we’re not expecting, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t bookmarked ideas for later use. Nurseries are so much fun. It’s the one room in the house where you’re allowed expected to use lots of colors and cutesy things.

I am loving the ‘new’ nurseries that I’m seeing pop up. Much more modern and DIY and less ‘nursery in a bag’.

Here are just a few of my favorites right now….

First up, Little P’s blue and yellow heaven. Her mom Megan did such a great job! Kim commented on the yellow tablescape I posted a few days ago that teal and yellow would be wonderful nursery colors. As you can see here, yes they are! This would work well for a boy or a girl. I just love how bright and cheery this room is. How can you not have a happy baby with a wonderful space like this?

This is Wren’s ‘nest’ (isn’t that the cutest?) by her mom, Holly. The poms as a mobile are beautiful. Everything is simple and perfect.

Next, we have a lemony twin boys’ room done by Project Nursery reader Johanna. Yellow stripes, vintage toys and drawings, plus that rug(!)…this room is just gorgeous.

This is Eleanor’s pretty pink nursery. Her mom, Nicole of Making it Lovely, did a wonderful job working with a different shape/sized space. I think it’s so cozy and sweet.

Easiest Cookies Ever

Are you ready for this? It just may change your life. Easiest peanut butter cookies, ever.

1 cup peanut butter + 1 cup sugar + 1 egg

- Mix it up

- Spoon out mixture

- Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes

Not even joking. Is that not easy as pie? I found the recipe from Make and Takes a few months ago and have made these so many times. So great for last minute guests or when you need a sweet quick

Just a few scraps…

Lookie what Laura of Wren Handmade whipped up for Design*Sponge this morning. She covered pencils and jar lids with scrap paper. These are so pretty and simple. The pencils would be a great little happy for teachers or coworkers. And those jars would be perfect for homemade bath salts or scrubs.

beautiful yellow tablescape

I found this bright and cheery tablescape through Once Wed last night. Chelsea of Oh my Deer did a fantastic job!

The whole thing is just beautiful and full of DIY ideas. I really really love the chandelier made from silk petals. Oh my, how amazing is that? So fun for a tablescape, but I could see that being used in a guest or kid’s room too. (p.s. LOVE her wall color!)

Pink, girly work shower

My friend Dawn and I threw a little work shower for our coworker today. She wanted something with a Parisian feel (they’re honeymooning in Paris) and really girly (like the bride! ) Speaking of the bride, here she is! We had a pom left over and I had her hold it as a bouquet. hehe

I’m so sad I couldn’t get many pictures. My camera died. But here’s a few shots from the shower.  It’s hard to convert a conference room into a space for a shower, but I think we did ok.   For food we had chocolate covered strawberries, baby bites, fruit, and a variety of cheeses and crackers.

Our talented coworker Catherine created two beautiful floral arrangements for us. This one she did in a cupcake stand.

Of course I had to make flags. The flags are supposed to say ‘sweet love’ in French (i used google translator). I overheard at the shower they actually say tender or soft love. At least it wasn’t ‘i hate you’. haha. And those little sweet treats are Baby Bites…delicious itty bitty bite sized cakes from Pastry Art here in Homewood. If you’re in town, you have to try them. Soo good!

The runner is gift wrap I bought for our wedding and never really had a use for since.  It turned out to be just perfect for this!

Drink station. We had sparkling pink punch with and without champagne and labeled them accordingly. I used this recipe. It was so good!

Throwing parties is always so much fun. Can’t wait til the next one!

Yes guys, you read right. Krispy Kreme now offers mini donuts! I just can’t believe it and am making the hubs take me asap to see these little beauties. These may just be better than the heart shaped ones at valentine’s day. Oh, Krispy Kreme, you know just how to make a girl smile!
