DIY artwork

I’m ashamed to say that I have a case of the bare walls at my house. I have a lot of posters from my college days, but I want to upgrade for our house. There’s much more permanence in what we put up now…any hole we make, we’ll have to fix.

I’d like what we put up to reflect our personalities…so of course I’m looking at different ideas to make our own artwork

I absolutely love this idea from Ali Edwards.

She used a vintage letterpress type drawer and filled it with pictures, keepsakes and scrapbooking embellishments. It’s beautiful! I’m already scouring ebay for a drawer/case of my very own.

And to go along with the letterpress theme…I think this block letter W (for our names’ sake) would look quite nice hanging somewhere.

Mini Caramel Apples

Really? How awesome are these? They are the perfect size.

Sakurako Kitsa on Flickr posted this mini caramel apple recipe from Cat Cora on Iron Chef. Sadly, it’s 1000 degrees outside, so nowhere near time to make candy apples. Now I’m even more anxious for fall to arrive!

I love all things miniature, so these tiny little treats are seriously blowing my mind. Plus, we have an apple tree full of apples in our backyard. Perfect match if you ask me.

I cannot wait to make them!

Fabric covered clips

I’ve been meaning to try some of these for a while. I loove office supplies, especially when they are super cute like these. (polka dots, really!?) I just can’t seem to focus these days on my projects. I thought some of you may want to give it a try though.

There are some variations on how to make these little cuties. Here are directions from How About Orange and Dandee Designs.

Lego silverware!

How cute are these? Annd…they all snap together like real legos so you’re less likely to lose them.  Mark loved legos as a kid, but I’m not sure if he’d be caught dead using these for his work lunches.

Shower Recap

I headed down home this past weekend for my sister in law’s basket shower. It was a tad bit stressful in those hours beforehand, but we got it all together just in time

I hung red lanterns outside

Mom cut out hearts with her Cricut on the most perfect Martha Stewart paper.

We wrote in starters for marriage advice and had guests fill them out.

Then had them hang them on our little advice clothesline that made into a pretty garland.

Of course a few cupcake flags had to make an appearance. yes, those are red velvet cupcakes

We used a mini red collander for forks and made different sized poms around the room.

Mom & Ashlie worked together to create a ‘Congrats’ banner using her Cricut.

Keeping it Together

An organizer made from gluing multiple envelopes together. What a handy way to keep up with all those little bits and pieces. I defintely could use something like this for receipts and bills.
